CrossFit Games 2021 is nearing and many participants are excited. Apart from the usual men's and ladies' competitions, there will be some women's events. We're all familiar with the Reebok's equipment, the Pegboard contest, and the Cutting system. But what do we know about the womens' competition? Read on to find out more. Don't forget the CrossFit news page to get the latest information about the competition.
The competition for women
The women's competition at the 2021 Crossfit Games began this morning with the swim event. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. After maintaining her lead throughout competition, Koski was declared the overall winner. Tall and Eramooo O’Connell came second and three respectively. It was the first Games for women, and the women's side hoped to complete the podium.
The field is full of top-level athletes in the women's competition. The field includes nine athletes. One of them is a 19-year old powerhouse, who won the Australian competition last year. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. The Women's competition will feature these athletes as well as Sara Sigmundsdottir (an Icelandan competitor who won the first place medal at World Crossfit Games earlier last year).
Pegboard contest
Pegboard competition at Crossfit Games 2021 was the first. The Games added it to their summer Olympic program, along with double-unders (dumbbell overhead squats) and pegboard. With 30 wins, Toomey-Orr holds the record for the most Games events won. Sager won Event 11 for men and earned his third win of the Games. Although there were many ties, Toomey-Orr's dominance wasn't enough to prevent him from winning the contest.

Athletes train for the CrossFit Games by focusing on ten general physical fitness skills: cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, and agility. Competitors are tested on their grip strength and coordination in the Pegboard contest. Two wooden pegs are held between the hands of each competitor to gauge their grip strength. The Pegboard was a fierce competition that left the athletes feeling proud of their accomplishments.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games has a new cutting system for individual competition. While it's not as extreme or drastic as in previous Games, this year is very different. The competition consists of 15 individual events, so a first cut to 30 athletes is likely after the seventh or eighth event. CrossFit's decision on how to adjust the points distributed after cuts remains a question. The scoring system used in 2019 was virtually identical to the 2021 one, so it is probable that this will continue.
This year's field consists of 236 athletes, making it the largest in the history of the CrossFit Games. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field is now reduced to 75. The top thirty athletes then compete in a sprint team to determine the top 10. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system was strongly criticised by former Games participants, who felt that cuts were too substantial.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They are built to accommodate multiple fitness needs. Although Reebok calls this shoe "the shoe for fitness", it feels more like a training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar fabric is used for the upper, which promotes breathability and durability. The shoes' responsiveness is enhanced thanks to the RopePro tech and the firm midsole.

Reebok's contract with CrossFit will end at the end of 2020, and the Games will be without a title sponsor. Reebok has been sponsoring the Games for over a decade and now it is clear that its involvement will be declining. Reebok will no longer sponsor the Games' prize money, but it will continue to manufacture all the athletic apparel and equipment used by athletes, including the Reebok gear. The company won't refer to itself as "Reebok crossfit games" anymore.
FAQ
What is a good seven-day workout routine?
A seven day exercise program should include cardiovascular training (running or biking), strength exercises (using freeweights, weight machines) and one flexibility/core workout. Each activity should be done at least once per week. The total time for each session should not exceed 45 minutes.
Cardiovascular Exercise: Running, Biking, Swimming
Aim to do at least 60 minutes per week of cardio. Aim for 75 minutes per week to get the best results. Cardio exercises can help improve blood flow and stimulate muscle growth.

How To
What nutrients does a person need every day?
For healthy growth and development, men need to eat a balanced diet. The body needs vitamins, minerals as well as proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
The male body also requires specific nutrients at different times throughout the day. When you're sleeping, your body uses energy from food for hormones, proteins, and enzymes. When you awake, protein is used by your body to build muscles or repair damaged tissue.
Your body burns fat at night and stores it as energy as glycogen. Your body has less energy but still requires enough nutrients during this time. You can have a snack at night if you feel hungry.
For your body to function properly, it needs adequate amounts of protein and carbs. If you train hard, you may experience muscle soreness after exercising.
To prevent this from happening, you need to consume carbs or protein within two hours. Your body will breakdown stored glycogen and provide you with glucose for energy.
Additionally, it is important to eat protein right away after your workouts are over. This prevents the breakdown of muscle tissue that occurs while you sleep.
During periods of intense physical activity, your body produces lactic acid. Lactic acid builds up in the bloodstream and causes fatigue. Eat foods high in carbohydrate, such as fruits, vegetables, to avoid this.
Carbohydrates offer your body the energy it needs for recovery from exercise.
Additionally, lean meats, fish and eggs, dairy products, yogurt, cream, cheese, yogurt and beans can be added to your diet.
All these foods are high-quality sources of protein. Protein promotes muscle growth, and helps repair damaged tissues. Protein also supplies the amino acids your body requires to make sex hormones, such as testosterone.
You also need enough dietary fats to maintain good skin, hair, nails, and joints. Healthy men need to consume between 20%-35% of their total calories from fat.
Fat helps protect your heart health and prevents cancer. It helps keep your brain working properly.
Most of the fat you need can be obtained from vegetable oils, including sunflower oil (or soybean oil), peanut oil, peanut oil, soybean oil, and peanut oil.
These oils contain high levels of monounsaturated fat acids (MUFAs). MUFAs are good for lowering cholesterol and reducing inflammation. They protect cells against damage from free radicals.
Saturated oils (SFAs), found primarily in animal products such meats, dairy products and butter, are known to raise LDL ("bad") cholesterol. SFAs increase LDL ("bad") cholesterol, and increase triglycerides. They also promote weight gain and belly fat.
Plant-based oils such as vegetable oil, nuts, seeds, or grains are rich in polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs). PUFAs can improve cardiovascular function and reduce inflammation. They are also good for controlling blood sugar and cholesterol.
Low HDL ("good") cholesterol can lead to erectile problems in men. High consumption of saturated fats increases bad cholesterol, which lowers the level of good cholesterol.
Men who eat large quantities of red meats or pork may develop prostate problems. Nitrites convert to nitrosamines when cooked at high temperatures. These compounds can lead to cancer.
Many processed meats are high in nitrites, and other dangerous chemicals. You should avoid them.
The American Heart Association recommends limiting red meat intake to two meals per week. Instead, choose poultry or fish, beans, tofu and whole grain bread.
